Recently, I made this "quiet play" mat for my friend's son's 2nd birthday. I made the mat using the same technique that I used to make my kiddo's Halloween Felt Play Mat. I wanted to make something that could be stored in a purse and/or diaper bag for use at a restaurant, church, doctor's office, etc. Each vehicle has a matching "surface", but they can be used for any quiet pretend play that this little guy desires. In addition, I included the letters of his name for a quick learning opportunity.
If you'd like to make your own, here are the patterns I used for my vehicles (just click on the image, print, cut out on cardstock, and use as stencils). Of course, you may be a much better artist than me and want to draw your own!
