fresh flowers: $12-6 mini bouquets=$3 each

Yesterday, I purchased a bunch of bright pink carnations and white daisies from my neighborhood florist.  While I could have gotten them for less at the local grocer, I don't mind spending a couple extra dollars to support a local small business and I love the smell of a tiny florist shop.  All of the aromas from the flower varieties and fresh greenery are the best potpourri.

With the sunshine from the past couple of days and the fresh flowers around the house, I can feel spring coming soon.

How about you?  What do you do to bring on Spring in your house?

More PB inspiration...

I'd like to sit at this table, especially with the galvanized metal tier (couldn't find it on the website...)

Some Easter ideas.

Perusing the mail catalogs, what a relaxing way to spend the evening.

a deeply felt love affair

I'm having a love affair with felt.  It is truly an exceptional crafting material. But my felting is nothing compared to the felt art from DashingEtc.  Not only are her felt flower creations truly works of art, she is also a St. Louis local artist.  Check her out at her Etsy shop and her blog.  Here is a little eye candy for you...

an easy shamrock wreath

This wreath is super easy and only three main components: a styrofoam circle wreath, white cotton yarn, and green felt.  I used a 12" wreath from Joann's and a 4oz skein of sugar n cream from Joann's as well. The green felt was 2/3 yd remnant that I purchased on the cheap...I can always use a little extra green felt for something.

First, using the yarn and a glue gun, I attached one end of the yarn to the wreath.  Then, I tightly wound the yarn around the wreath.  Then, I attached the end with the glue gun.  Easy.

Next, I made the felt rolls by rolling 24" pieces of felt into a tight circle and using the glue gun to secure the ends.

After making enough felt rolls to evenly space them around the wreath, I made a little shamrock by gluing three felt rolls together and adding a little stem.  Then, I attached everything with the gun.

Simple. Green. Irish.

In a similar style, I also made this wreath for my front door.
